Toevlug offers two treatment programs, one for adults and a separate program for adolescents (youth aged 13 - 18 years).
The youth program has been developed to focus on the specific needs of the adolescent with substance related problems.
Both programs run over a period of five weeks. The program starts with detoxification according to the guidelines as set by the Department of Health under the supervision of a medical doctor and 24 hour registered medical staff. Detoxification is followed by a scheduled treatment program presented by the multi-disciplinary team. The multi-disciplinary team consists of social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychiatrist, medical doctor, medical staff and pastoral staff.
Every patient is assessed by the multi-disciplinary team where after an individual treatment program is constructed. The Centre accommodates people from all religions. The Centre works on a cognitive behavioural model. In our treatment model we network and form partnerships with a wide variety of other role players, for example SAPS, FAMSA, Stikland Hospital, Department of Health and the University of Stellenbosch, to name a few.
Family members, parents and significant others form an important part of the patients’ treatment and are cordially invited to be part of the treatment program
